Bath time!

The first bath is never the most enjoyable for our kids. They love to get in the tub, but for the first few bath times, a sponge bath is all they get. For Ava's first bath, I had a lot of good help. Caleb has really taken a shine to his little sister, and likes to be the one to make her happy. Haleigh helped by sponging off her arms and legs, and Caleb got the job of washing her hair. She screamed the whole time...until Caleb started washing her hair. She immediately quieted down and stayed quiet the rest of the time(which thrilled her big brother). Then, we all enjoyed taking turns holding her and smelling the yummy baby smell.

8:20 p.m.

7 lbs. 9 oz,  20" long

It feels like we've been waiting for this day forever! We went to the hospital Wednesday afternoon at about 2:00. A couple of women were ahead of us with unexpected labor, so we had to wait a little while to get started. The nurses started the Pitocin(spelling?) at about 3:45 and immediately I began having contractions. At about 5 cm, I asked for an epidural (yipee!) and 45 minutes later, I was about ready to start pushing! She came really quickly, with only a few pushes. The doctor actually had to tell me to stop pushing for a minute while he got the cord from around her neck. She was healthy and alert right away and looks every bit like her brothers and sister. Shawn couldn't believe how much hair she had, but I figured she'd have alot, since I've had indigestion since about the third month! We're at home now, trying to get into a normal life of nursing, sleeping, and cuddling! I'll post more pictures soon!

New Baby News!

I am definitely getting bad about posting things going on in our lives here. I would like to use the "insanely busy" excuse, but that's all it would be! Life is going to be getting even busier this coming week, because our newest family member will be joining us here shortly. I am scheduled to be induced into labor on Wednesday, Feb.11 at 2:00. So, hopefully, not too long into the evening, we will be welcoming our new little one into the world. I will post pictures as soon as possible, along with her name and baby stats. We would certainly appreciate your prayers!
