What an absolutely perfect holiday. We invited our 20 somethings class over for Memorial Day(and also another family from church) for a cookout and some good hangout time. We had the best time together. The weather was pretty cooperative, which we were worried about before. We grilled hamburgers and hotdogs and everyone brought side dishes. I tried out a new mint chocolate chip icecream recipe in my ice cream maker, and it turned out yummy(except I ran out of green food coloring, so the second batch was just white). After lunch, we all decided to walk down the street to a neighborhood baseball field and play kickball...even the kids. It was great! Everyone had so much fun playing and my kids slept REALLY GOOD last night! Hope everyone enjoyed their holiday=)

A little reminder is sometimes needed
This evening I began to get very frustrated with my children. I had spent much of my Saturday playing with the kids, then trying to clean house. It seemed like these little ones were doing everything in their power to interrupt my cleaning frenzy. Then, I remembered something I read a few days ago....
If I live in a house of spotless beauty with everything in its place, But have not love, I am a housekeeper- not a homemaker. If I have time for waxing, polishing and decorative achievements, But have not love, my children learn cleanliness- not godliness. Love leaves the dust in search of a child's laugh. Love smiles at the tiny fingerprints on a newly cleaned window. Love wipes away the tears before it wipes up the spilled milk. Love picks up the child before it picks up the toys. Love is present through the trials. Love reprimands, reproves and is responsive. Love crawls with the baby, walks with the toddler, runs with the child, then stands aside to let the youth walk into adulthood. Love is the key that opens salvations message into a child's heart. Before I became a mother I took glory in my house of perfection. Now I glory in God's perfection of my child. As a mother, there is much I must teach my child, But the greatest of these is Love. -Author unknown

Mission... Organization
I have been inspired by so many of my fellow bloggers with their "Tackle it Tuesday" projects that I decided that today was the day for my first. It's not Tuesday, but this was a much needed organizing project. I am a former teacher, a lover of books, the wife of a pastor and semi-packrat. Put all of these things together and you get...INSANE CLUTTER ON THE BOOKSHELF!!!This tackle took Joshua's entire nap time, three bags of trash, and a hefty donation/yardsale box. A lot of work, but I love the result!

Friends are truly a blessing from the Lord. This precious group of women are usually digging in the Word on Sunday nights with me. But, we

Happy Cinco de Mayo
Ok, so it's not Cinco de Mayo anymore...it's like Eleven de Mayo(I never took Spainish). But, Haleigh had a big fiesta at school and I really wanted to post a couple cute pics. I'm a little disappointed that they had this huge event for this fun holiday...but hardly nodded to Easter(it's a Christian school!) Anyhow, lots of fun at this fiesta...big sombreos, ponchos, and of course, a pinata! Haleigh had a pretty good swing for a little girl. I think it was the thought of knocking all that candy loose! That's my girl!
