Lake Somewhere

Last weekend we went with our 20 somethings' class to a lake in Indiana. I can't remember the name of the lake, but it was a private lake that was pretty small. We had such a great time there. One of the girls in our group invited us to stay at her grandparents' house and go boating, tubing and swimming. The weather was perfect and the lake was beautiful. We took the kids with us since another family brought their small children also. I was really proud of how great Haleigh and Caleb did swimming in the lake. They had on their life vests, so they had more independance than in a regular swimming pool. Joshua was the only one who had a problem...he hated his life vest. He screamed from the time I put it on him until the time I took it off. Which is not what I wanted to see since we leave Saturday for a family vacation on the lake. Unfortunatly, I was not able to really do serious tubing(don't want to bounce the baby too much). But they did give me a turn on the tube going kind of slowly. Never trust a quiet moment...

Yesterday, I was cleaning the kitchen, and suddenly thought, "Wow, it's really quiet in here". Then the worry began to set in. Normally, there is plenty of talking, playing or fighting to be heard in our home. And when that rare moment occurs that all is quiet, I usually go hunting to see what a child has gotten into. Joshua has recently been very interested in mommy's purse. And why shouldn't he be? There is enough in a mommy's purse to entertain a 2 year old for quite a while. Well, apparently, while in my purse this time, he had found a little tube of sunscreen that I carry in my bag during the summer. He proceeded to squeeze some into his little hands and rub it throughout his entire head of hair! After I found him, I grabbed my camera and took away the sunscreen. He was pretty sad about his treasure being taken away, but I could not resist taking a picture of his crazy hair! So, this is why you should never trust a quiet moment in our house. 

A family favorite

One of my favorite family traditions of the summer is making homemade ice cream. My dad always made some for family gatherings or cook outs and sometimes even church ice cream fellowships. I think he probably got it from his dad. Anyhow, I bought an ice cream freezer at a yard sale last year and have been using some family favorite recipies. I've also found a couple new ones that we've tried out also. I think our favorite so far is chocolate, but strawberry is a close second. Caleb was very interested in helping me with the freezer, always asking if it was time to add more salt. I thought this was a cute picture of him all excited.

Fourth of July

Our Fourth of July was spent with some college students at our pastor's house. They had a cookout and invited all of us to come along. So after stuffing our faces on hamburgers and hotdogs, we went outside and played a game of wiffle ball. It was a lot of fun, and the kids got in on the game as well. The one thing missing was fireworks. We didn't have any there, but we saw some on the way home. Hope you all had a Happy Fourth!

AM

PREGNANT!!!

I went to the doctor today to confirm that I am indeed about 8 weeks along. Which makes my due date February 17.  We are very excited about our new addition as are Haleigh and Caleb (Joshua is oblivious). Haleigh speaks to my tummy all of the time, and wants to know if "she" can sleep in her room when "she" comes. I'm feeling pretty good, just a little queasy every now and then. And very surprised at how quickly the fourth one makes my clothes feel snug. Well, I'm so glad I could share our great news with all of you! Blessings!
